The Caribbean region is diverse geographically, culturally and politically. It has also very parochial banking facilities and while some banks have extensive branch networks across the region, there are a number of jurisdictions that are not covered. Also for political reasons it is impossible to obtain loans in some jurisdictions. European countries have historical ties with certain islands and their laws make it difficult for some banks to operate in these jurisdictions.
Caribbean Mortgage Services can broker mortgage loans in the English-speaking islands but it is difficult to place loans outside these islands.
